Conservative Representative Johnson (R-LA) reached the 217 mark necessary to become the new U.S. Speaker and was elected unanimously by the Republican Conference. The vote for Speaker was held at noon.

The Texas Secretary of State released preliminary findings from the audit of the November 2022 election in Harris County. The preliminary findings show problems with voter registration data, failure to provide necessary supplies to polling places, equipment issues and incomplete paperwork.
