August 3 Meeting Topic
Texas is now the number one state in which human trafficking occurs. In Houston, the nation's human trafficking hub, you can have a child delivered to your hotel room as easily as you can a pizza. This of course spreads into Montgomery County. In January, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Organized Crime Unit arrested 30 suspects in a human trafficking sting operation.
The Biden Administration's open borders have exacerbated the crisis, putting Texans on the frontlines. We need constant vigilance, enhanced awareness, and an understanding of what to look for.
Dr. Seema Nanda will share how to identify victims of human trafficking and resources for combatting the crisis. Learn steps you can take to urge Governor Abbott and the Texas Legislature to secure the border and end the slavery that is human trafficking.
About Dr. Seema Nanda
When the new requirement to learn about Human Trafficking was mandated for all health care professionals by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission, Dr. Nanda became the only eyecare professional in the state certified to teach the course. She has taught more than 1,000 doctors in Texas on “Targeting Trafficking.”
Dr. Nanda is the founder and director of the Nanda Dry Eye & Vision Institute, a specialty clinic in Houston focusing on dry eyes and corneal disorders. She is a Clinical Professor in Ocular Disease, having received her Doctorate from Indiana University. She also studied in Microbiology and Medical Technology, and as such, is well-versed on the effects of bacteria and viruses on the body, and is a national speaker on adverse effects of the COVID vaccine in the eyes. She also will be a featured speaker at an event in Conroe this Saturday, July 22, focused on "Restoring Hope for the COVID Vaccine Injured."
Dr. Nanda travels internationally as a key opinion leader in her field and has given 500+ presentations worldwide on the newest advances in ocular medicine. She is the inventor of the “Nanda ProGrip Ocular Forceps,” and has authored several publications on healing the eyes.
