The True State of the State: Are Our Legislators Serious About Helping Texans?

The True State of the State: Are Our Legislators Serious About Helping Texans?

We're more than halfway through the 89th Texas Legislative Session and many Republican voters are feeling betrayed by those we sent to represent us.

At our April 3rd meeting, we’ll be joined by three members of the Texas GOP State Republican Executive Committee (SREC), who will provide an update on how Republican Party of Texas priority bills are moving (or not moving) through the Texas House and Senate.

Understanding what’s happening in the Texas Legislature is key to helping put Texas back on track. Get up to speed on some of the most important legislative issues facing our great state.

⚠️ Threats to Our Electric Grid

Milinda Morris is the SREC Committeewoman for Senate District 13 and the Legislative Priorities Sub-Committee Chair for the “Secure Our Electric Grid” priority. She will address serious threats to our Texas electric grid, including ice storms, hurricanes, and EMP pulses. She’ll also discuss the importance of keeping the grid independent and controlled by Texas instead of connecting to the national grid.

⚠️ Texas Land Is Not for Sale

Deborah Kelting-Fite is the SREC Committeewoman for Senate District 7 and the Legislative Priorities Sub-Committee Chair for the “Texas Land Is Not for Sale” priority. She will cover the urgent need to prevent Texas land from being sold to enemy combatants and their agents. Senate Bill 17 by Senator Lois Kolkhorst aims to do that, but includes loopholes that will undermine the bill’s effectiveness and endanger the security of Texas.

⚠️ End Tax-Payer Funded Lobbying

Ralph Fite is the SREC Committeeman for Senate District 7, Chairman of the Texas GOP Local Government Committee, and the Texas GOP Treasurer. He will explain how the Texas Senate effectively gutted Senate Bill 19, Senator Mayes Middleton's excellent bill that would have prohibited the use of tax dollars to hire lobbyists. Instead of banning taxpayer-funded lobbying, the bill now codifies it!

⚠️ Democrats Running the Texas House

You’ll also learn how Democrat control of the Texas House, despite a Republican majority, is impacting Texas GOP priority bills. How should Conservatives respond if their representative was one of those who betrayed the Republican Caucus and voted with Democrats to secure the House Speakership?

Bring your questions about specific Texas GOP Legislative Priorities for our Q&A and get ready to fight for your Texas values! You can read the Legislative Priorities here.

🚧 Montgomery County Road Bonds

All Montgomery County residents will vote on $480 million in road bonds in the May 3rd local elections. Montgomery County Eagle Forum Treasurer, Luis Pedraza, will provide important facts about the road bonds so you can be an informed voter at the polls.
