Are Our County Buildings Safe for Victims, Law Enforcement, Staff, and Visitors?
Montgomery County has seen rapid growth and expansion with few updates to critical buildings such as the courthouse, court buildings, tax office, and other facilities.
Holding cells are unusable due to cracked floors that prevent the doors from closing. Rats and asbestos in some buildings threaten the health of employees. Out-of-date floorplans make it difficult to adequately separate victims from those on trial, putting law enforcement personnel and victims at risk.
Accessibility and overcrowding have become huge issues. Two-day hearings are often held in three separate courtrooms if they can get on the schedule at all.
Citizen awareness is important in addressing these issues. Join us for our March meeting as two of our county judges share the urgency of bringing Montgomery County’s aging buildings into the 21st century.
