Supreme Court Defends Parents

June 27, 2025 | Washington, D.C.

“The Supreme Court has issued another win for America’s families,” Kris Ullman, President of Eagle Forum stated. “The parental role has been affirmed at the highest Court in the land, continuing their right to choose what their children learn.”

After the Montgomery County, Maryland, School Board forced children to read books containing themes of homosexuality and transgenderism, parents sued based on their religious liberties. Eagle Forum joined fifty-five organizations on an amicus brief in this case defending the rights of parents to exercise their free religious rights in the upbringing of their children.

Today, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Mahmoud et al. v. Taylor et al. in a 6-3 decision that parents can opt their children out of these sexually explicit curricula.

“We are grateful for the parents who used their voice to protect their children and others in the community from the aggressive indoctrination of LGBTQ activists,” Ullman went on to say. “Because of their bravery, parents can now feel more empowered to make decisions about their children’s education.”
