Government Shutdown Showdown
Congress has only a few days to act to keep the government open. The House must act first on spending bills as required by the Constitution. However, progress came to a halt over the last two weeks. Speaker McCarthy has the weighty task of uniting the party behind spending and policy limits.
Appropriate Demands for Appropriations
After the August recess, the U.S. House and Senate will have 12 days to pass 12 appropriations bills or face a government shutdown. The House Freedom Caucus (HFC) issued a statement promising to oppose any Continuing Resolution (CR) that is brought up for a vote.
