The Senate Committee on State Affairs will hear additional Election related bills on Thursday.

ACTION: Please call or email members of the State Affairs Committee and register your position on the bills you feel strongly about.

SB 260 (Kolkhorst) SUPPORT – Would remove ineligible voters off the voter roll after a prescribed action is taken and receives no confirmation.

SB 1993 (Middleton) SUPPORT - Must re-do an election if ballots are not delivered to polling places in a timely manner.

SB 1070 (Hughes) SUPPORT - Creates standards for our voter registration system.

SB 1599 (Hughes) SUPPORT - Requires voided mail ballots returned at the polling place to be recorded and placed in Ballot Box 4.

SB 1600 (Hughes) SUPPORT - Requires proof of citizenship when applying for voter registration

SB 2532 (Hughes) OPPOSE – Doubles both petition signatures needed and required fee to get on the ballot. (We consider this participation suppression.)

SB 220 (Bettencourt) OPPOSE - Creates Election Marshalls; more bureaucracy, playing defense, doesn’t stop the crimes, potentially creates obstacles for our clerks & judges.

SB 823 (Bettencourt) SUPPORT - Gives SOS power to suspend the Election Administrator if the County won’t do it when there is cause.

SB 1750 (Bettencourt) SUPPORT - Abolishes EA position in counties under 1M people; returns elections back to County Clerk & County tax assessor.

SB 1933 (Bettencourt) OPPOSE - Randomized audits - audits are not defined; random is not defined. This creates false security.

SB 2451 (Menendez) OPPOSE - These details should be handled by the Secretary of State, not detailed in election law.
