Flag Day

Commemorates the adoption of the US flag on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress.

The Origins of Flag Day

Flag Day became official in August 1949 when President Harry Truman signed legislation proclaiming June 14 as Flag Day. In observance of Flag Day, the flag is flown from all public buildings.

The United States Army also celebrates its birthday on this day, as does President Donald Trump.

The month of June has been overrun by flags that seek to divide, not unite, Americans. Our American flag represents the hope and promise of a nation founded on liberty and opportunity for ALL Americans.

“You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it.” ―John Adams
