Commemorates the adoption of the US flag on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress.
Flag Day became official in August 1949 when President Harry Truman signed legislation proclaiming June 14 as Flag Day. In observance of Flag Day, the flag is flown from all public buildings.
The United States Army also celebrates its birthday on this day, as does President Donald Trump.
