From Texas Eagle Forum & Grassroots America - We the People

Urgent: Speak Up Now! Texas does not need a new army of young Marxists being trained with our tax dollars!

Your State Board of Education will take a VOTE at their September meeting on Personal Financial Literacy TEKS which include Critical Race Theory, but exclude Free Market Capitalism!

Dr. Carole H. Haynes – longtime education subject matter expert and historian – asks you to post comments online to the State Board of Education members AND to send an email to the entire board.

We’ve made it easy for you to take ACTION. The steps are below!

Deadline for online comments is Monday, August 24 at 5 PM!

Fight, fight, fight!

Background

Only 39% of American youth support capitalism over socialism or communism.

A Newsweek survey found that American youth do not understand capitalism. Public education has failed to educate American youth about free market capitalism that is responsible for much of America’s standing as the world’s largest economy and the greatest number of innovations over the past century.

No wonder they are easily swayed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)!

Problem: TEKS Exclude Free Market Capitalism, Include Critical Race Theory

At the September meeting, the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) will vote on Personal Financial Literacy curriculum standards (TEKS) which have removed traditional economic principles and much of the free enterprise that comprised the previous financial literacy course. The standards could also include proposed changes by SBOE member, LJ Francis, who has been influenced by the far-left Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF).

NGPF is a provider of free open resources with a financial literacy framework that includes Critical Race Theory. Finance is viewed through an anti-racist lens – oppressed vs. oppressor. Students will be taught that reparations must be imposed to redress the “harms of slavery and violence against Black Americans and other historically excluded communities.” In the banking course, students will be taught that racial discrimination has influenced decisions about who gets loans.

Ignoring the mandate in HB 1605 that restored total control to the SBOE over the content of instructional materials, HB 27 directs the SBOE to “develop a list of free, open-source, and publicly available curricula.”

Once again, districts can use taxpayer funds to purchase the non-SBOE approved radical left NGPF open resources with Critical Race Theory. Because these digital materials are controlled by third parties, they can be updated or revised at any time without any approval by the SBOE or any parental knowledge.

ACTION STEP #1

Make an online public comment no later than August 24, 5:00 PM.

Click this link: https://form.jotform.com/210613021857144 and then select the 2nd option (Proposed Personal Financial Literacy).

Tell the SBOE to:

  1. Restore the economics, free enterprise, and entrepreneurship principles that have been stripped from the Personal Financial Literacy standards.

  2. Affirm the mandate in HB 1605 that requires the SBOE to have full control over all instructional materials funded with taxpayer money.

ACTION STEP #2

Send one email that will be directed to your State Board of Education Member, Chairman Kinsey, and TEA Commissioner Mike Morath.

Use Grassroots America’s quick action link to ask these officials to:

  • Restore the free enterprise/free market capitalism principles that spur entrepreneurship, economic opportunity, creativity, and choice in the marketplace.

  • Oppose socialism and communism in Texas financial literacy standards.

  • Oppose Critical Race Theory that keeps the ridiculous “reparation grievance” going.

  • Support the elected State Board of Education’s control over instructional materials funded with our tax dollars – not materials selected by unelected public school campus committees!
