Emergency Preparedness: Protecting Your Family During Long-Term Power Outages
Whether you’re worried about the power going out for a week (or more), natural disasters, or attacks on the electric grid, it's critical to take action now.
If you wait until you need an alternative power source, it's already too late!
Montgomery County residents are familiar with portable and full-home gas generators, but as we experienced during Hurricane Beryl, they come with their own set of challenges, including:
Fuel dependency (three-hour lines at gas stations during Beryl and some residents reported loss of natural gas)
High operating costs
Regular maintenance and oil changes
Risk of carbon monoxide poisoning
At our September 5th meeting, Montgomery County Eagle Forum Board Member, John Feder, will explain threats to our electric grid, how to assess your power needs, and how to purchase and install a solar generator for sustainable energy during catastrophic events, rolling blackouts, and long-term power outages.
